To walk in gratitude is a way of living that is inclusive, attentive, contagious, and theocentric. – Brennan Manning in Ruthless Trust: The Ragamuffin’s Path to God

It’s been another full week at the Riggs house. Our kids were scattered hither and yon between vacation Bible school and Center Stage theater day camp. I definitely have a new appreciation for the daily shuttle that school-away-from-home families do. I spent a good deal of time learning the ropes of my new job at St. George’s, rehearsing for a friend’s classical choral premier, and singing Christmas carols for Duck Dynasty. Lara is preparing to go to Ethiopia with her sister at any moment now, which makes all of our appointments “penciled in” at best. Never a dull moment. My gratitude list for the week.

  • The fine Southern Baptist people in our community that love and serve our kids every year through such a well executed vacation Bible school
  • The volunteers at Belmont Church that run the annual Center Stage theater day camp
  • A surprise refinancing of our mortgage to a better rate
  • Singing at the CMA Music Festival with the Nashville Caroling Company
  • Gorgeous Nashville sanctuary filled with Charlie Heimerman’s beautiful “Behold the Lamb”
  • An overdue and helpful conversation
  • Auditing a class with the Nashville Acting Studio. Sign me up, Yes!
  • Observing a great performer work (hint: “nanu, nanu“)
