Through years of planning, credit card points, miracles of generosity, and sheer stubbornness in the face of trying circumstances, the six of us packed the family van to the gills, hitched up my parent’s camper, and drove 13 hours to Orlando to camp at the Fort Wilderness campground and visit Walt Disney World. As many families can attest, neither camping nor Disney constitutes a “vacation” per se, but it was some well-needed together time. We had a blast.

If you don’t know, my wife is an expert when it comes to planning and executing a Disney trip. (She’s also an expert at running and feeding the family, but if you know her at all, you already knew that). I’m encouraging her to write a series on her own blog about how we “did” Disney. I hope she takes me up on it … after we finish the mountains of laundry, unpacking our bags, sweeping the sand out of our camper, and catch our breath. Here’s the rest of my gratitude list for the week.

  • Time away at the most magical place on earth
  • Friends to keep Buckeye the Wonder Dog company
  • Acting breakthrough
  • A leadership development opportunity with GIANT Worldwide
  • Video shoot for Minit-Mart
  • Visiting and singing with an out-of-town friend
