I’ve just returned from a glorious week at sea with Kathy Troccoli and her Among Friends cruise. My older brother had Kathy’s first record and I remember listening to “You’re All I Need to Get By” and “Stubborn Love” in the 80s. Who can forget that beautiful rich alto?
I love it when I get to work with those whose work I’ve admired, especially when it’s someone I admired during my youth. So, what a treat it was when artistic director Bonnie Keen invited me to join the cast to entertain KT’s fans. Oh, and it’s cruising the Caribbean? In February? Yes, please!
Kathy books these cruises for her fans and hosts a week’s worth of programming. Other guests included 321 Improv, The Jeff Franzel Trio, and Michelle Margiotta. As for me, I was a part of a four-person cast who performed a Broadway musical revue. Among my castmates was my good friend and fellow Troubadour Darci Wantiez. (She’s the one that recommended me for the gig. Thank you, Darci!!). New friends for me were Graham Keen and Haley Sue Pearson. They are great. Making music together is fun, but doing it with friends is fabulous. This was fabulous and I’m extremely grateful.
