This last weekend I attended and volunteered for Podcamp Nashville, the annual “interactively savvy un-conference” for creatives, tech-geeks, and entrepreneurs.
It was eye-opening and inspiring to see and hear folks that are making Nashville a major tech hub in the South. For my part, I ran one of the presentation rooms. This suited me well as skills sit right in between people and technology. Here are a few of my takeaways.
- WordPress is now more than a blogging platform.
- People want to do business with positive people. Period. If you’re running a business, figure out how to be positive about it, regardless of what’s going on behind the curtain.
- What you say via social media can have legal ramifications, even if you just “retweet” it.
- Two things to enhance online videos: lighting and B roll.
- The new QuickTime has the functionality to record your computer screen
- If you’re launching a business, have a “pitch deck”
- You can get away with longer videos if they’re “how-to” videos
- Everyone, it seems, recommends Crush It.
