This month’s songwriter’s notebook features “Spring Up, O Well.”  I wrote this song while reading A.W. Tozer’s The Purpose of Man.  It’s a great read and I recommend it, although not all of it is easy.  He deals with the gospel account of the woman at the well with Jesus.  She’s asking him about correct worship protocol.  He responds by saying that “God is spirit, and his [true] worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”  I was meditating on this along with what Jesus says is the most important commandment:  “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”  My bias towards the simple song won again.  Get the Spring Up O Well Chart for free.

A shout out to my friends Celia Powers and Tim Henning for singing great harmony on the spot.
