This is the brand-new covenant that I will make with Israel when the time comes. I will put my law within them—write it on their hearts!—and be their God. And they will be my people. – from Jeremiah 31 (The Message)

Today was my second Sunday in a row fighting bronchitis, which makes it nearly impossible to sing without inducing a coughing fit. Special thanks to my singers Rachel Mello and Dave Durham for taking over lead vocal responsibilities. Leigh spoke from the lectionary reading in Jeremiah in cautioning us against investing in things less-than-God and expecting the fulfillment that only God can give, something that Leigh refers to as “inferior loves.”Instead, let us grow in trusting God. In doing so, we receive such forgiveness that we receive a new future. This was our set.
