Behind the Scenes*
In the fall of 2016, my talent agent notified me of a film being shot in Louisville. The director was looking for an actor who could sing and play guitar for the role of a music minister. (Yeah, I know a little something about that). So, after playing a couple of Chris Tomlin songs for director Duncan Skiles, I was cast in a thriller starring Dylan McDermott and Charlie Plummer that would later be called The Clovehitch Killer.
That October I spent four days filming in the First Baptist Church Middletown, KY. My glamorous holding room was a pink-walled Sunday School room complete with Veggie Tales videos. They were gracious hosts and I was right at home. Because I really do work at a church, there was the rumor that a real pastor was playing “Pastor Randy” and the production sought my counsel as to the rhythms and behavior of a real church service. I just went with it. This was my first job were the director called “that’s a wrap for Pastor Randy” on my last day and the crew applauded me. That felt great. It’s the small things. This crew was super-pro and I really enjoyed working with Duncan and the cast. I have wonderful memories of this shoot.
And after two long years, it is finally seeing the light of day. The Clovehitch Killer premieres this weekend at the L.A. Film Festival and will play the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival in October.
That’s a wrap!
*Many times when hired for a shoot, an actor is not allowed to publicly share the details. This is to protect the marketing plans of the project and to guard the producers’ right to control the way in which their story is first presented. Usually, the restrictions expire after the media is released to the public. This post is shared with permission.

The movie was shot with Sony cams!?
I’m not sure of all the gear, but it looks like at one was Sony. 😉
Thanks!
