I’m excited to launch my new blog today: ThatJonathanRiggs.com: In Every Season. I moved my existing blog to the more robust self-hosted version of WordPress and the Standard Theme (this is my affiliate link). A very special thanks to my designer friend Linda Bourdeaux of The Design Desk for help with the background image, font type, and overall design work on the site. I highly recommend her.
In Every Season is a line from a song I wrote with Michael Farren called “God’s With Us.”
In every season, He leads us along. God’s with us – “God’s With Us”
As many of you know, my life has turned upside down from layoffs from “stable, responsible, grown-up” jobs (yes, that’s plural) over the last three years. I’m convinced it’s for my good and I really have no desire to go back to corporate life. I’m trying to make a go of my own business as a creator and performer. I’ve been doing that since college as a hobby and side income. Economists call this “forced entrepreneurship.” That’s fine by me.
It ain’t easy and “in every season” reminds me that God’s faithfulness is constant even if not obvious. And that perseverance is the name of the game. I’m also influenced by my wife’s reaction to the typical notion that only the “highlight reel” gets blogged and posted on Facebook. I hope you find the honesty refreshing and encouraging. See, we all have ups and downs.
The purpose of this blog is
- To profile and market my creative services as a musician, worship leader, and actor
- To serve as the platform for my music education resources such as Diamond on the 1
- To join other like-minded “creatives” to share knowledge, tips, and experiences of our lives’ journey
I’m a busy father of four, so family life stuff is sure to appear from time to time. I intend to continue some of the series that I’ve started, such as The Songwriter’s Notebook, The Singer’s Workshop, and Thankful Thursdays. I’ve been considering some additional video series regarding music reading and music theory (would love your feedback on those ideas). My singing, songwriting, and worship leading pages are still here (look way at the top).
I’d love your feedback on the new site. It’s been a long time in the making and your fresh eyes would be very helpful. Finally, what additional topics would you like to discuss here?

Hey buddy love the design and a very nice first post. It might be a cool series to share resources you’re discovering to help others succeed in the “forced entrepenureship” space. May the Lord bless the the work of your hands my friend!
Good thought, Rob. And thanks for checking out the new site.
