If you were to peek inside my iPod playlist right now, you’d see two albums (is that what we still call them? I don’t know what to call them anymore): All the Roadrunning by Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris and Lucinda Williams’ West.
Neither are new, but man do they fit the mood for me lately. All the Roadrunning is a collection of gorgeous duets from these two icons of weathered cool. I like ’em all, but pay special attention to “This Is Us,” “If This Is Goodbye,” and “I Dug Up a Diamond.”
I like Lucinda Williams for many of the same reasons I like Emmylou Harris — the sultry, “lazy mouth” and southern attitude. It’s racy in parts, so use discretion, but I especially like “Are You Alright” and “Where Is My Love.”
Here’s to a great weekend!
