So, what’s the deal with Buc-ee’s? I had some colleagues get so excited over this gas station chain coming to Tennessee, I decided to check it out for myself. I had a caroling gig at Blackberry Farm in East Tennessee and, after spending the night with family in Lenoir City, I drove through Crossville on my way home to Nashville. It was a great place for a break and to stretch my legs.
Buc-ee’s is a cross between Mapco Express, Wal-Mart Supercenter, and Cracker Barrel Old Country Store with restrooms to rival the cleanliness of Walt Disney World. The restroom thing is a big deal and is talked about a lot. It’s pretty comical, but a clean place to go becomes pretty important when you’re on the road.
Oh, and there’s food. Not your normal gas station fare either. Fresh smoked meat, the largest jerky selection I’ve ever seen, baked goods, and fudge. I can vouch for the brisket sandwich. It did not disappoint.
Over to you: Have you heard of Buc-ee’s? Have you been?
